Browser Plugins

What is a browser plugin?

A browser plugin is add-on software which in this case helps the bowser do something, new or better than it did before.
There are several types of plugins, some for videos, music, fonts, news, etc. Just about anything you can imagine, and then some.

I will only list the most common here, but I will give you a few links on where to find more of them or even more info on each one.

Links will open in a new window since you're being sent directly to the download source. These files are not hosted here.

To me, the most common plugins are:

  • Adobe Flash - Enables your browser to see flash. Be it banners, movies or animation. Free.
  • Adobe Reader - Enables your browser to see PDF files online. Free.
  • Windows_xpi.jsp?locale=en&host=www.java.com:80"> Sun Java - Enables your browser to see and interact with Java applications. Free.
  • Apple QuickTime - Enables your browser to see certain types of movies and types of pictures. Free and pay.
  • RealMedia - Enables your browser to see certain types of movies and audio. 14 day shareware.
  • Windows/Windowsmedia/default.mspx"> Windows Media - Make sure you have the latest version.
